The family tradition and expertise in the world of perfumery dates back to the 1930s and culminated in 1942 with the opening of the first perfumery managed by the Nobile family.

Hence the name and the very identity of the brand founded by Massimo Nobile and Stefania Giannino in 2005, carrying on the values of the family tradition, inherited from father to son, with the aim of sharing them throughout the world.
Tradition combines with the passion and the spirit of Massimo and Stefania who have been creating liquid emotions since 20 years with a pioneering look to the future in the world of perfumery.
Our Story
Good morning and welcome! I am Massimo Nobile, and today I will tell you the story of my family — a story of perfumes, achievements, and cooperation between husbands and wives.
In 1942, my grandfather, who was an agent of historic brands, first opened a perfumery in Rome, run entirely by his wife.
I remember the smell of lavender, a scent she frequently sprayed in her clothes and throughout the store to give the feeling of cleanliness and purity to the environment and make you feel pampered.

A love story
It was at this point, in 1979, that my brother and I came into the job thanks to our father's training, who involved us in the business of retailing getting us passionate about it.
Based in Naples, we helped some major brands by expanding throughout southern Italy. I remember like it was yesterday the smell in the trunk of the car, a mix of the scents of the samples we used to carry around.
It's 1981, I'm in my early twenties, and you're probably thinking, “but so young?”, I'm in Palinuro on vacation in the beautiful beaches of Cilento, and it's here that I meet Stefania, sun-kissed, with that scent of sunscreen on her skin, she's beautiful!
Just a few years later I realized she would become my wife, the mother of my daughters, and my working partner with Nobile 1942.
After living in several regions of Italy including Campania, Lazio and Tuscany, we decided to settle in Liguria, Genoa to be precise.
City that vaguely reminded us of Naples because of its view of the sea, the old port, and the mountains behind us. Stefania at that time was working as an export manager for a large company in the medical field, and we had not yet given any thought to our future working together.
Following the acquisition of several brands by multinationals companies, Stefania and I decided to go against the wind and finally found Nobile 1942, a dream I had since childhood when I looked up to the work of my grandfather and grandmother.
The first perfume? “Pontevecchio” in honor of one of the cities where we had left our hearts, Florence.

We work with internationally renowned noses who most share our values and who better represent our olfactory stories in their scented creations.
We love collaborating with cutting-edge fragrance companies but above all with brilliant creative minds who best know how to express the liquid emotions that are contained in each bottle.
A perfume is liquid emotion, it is memory, it is art..
it is an invisible message that reveals our personality and speaks about us. Our in-store training sessions, dedicated to our official resellers and distributors, are created to better understand all these facets of personality which then translate into olfactory facets.

Our Handmade
We can proudly say that we are one of the rare artisan companies that produces and hand-packages its products in house” with care and dedication.
Each fragrance is bottled, labeled and packaged, one by one, respecting the very high-quality standards of Italian artisan products. We are always looking for artisans, materials, exclusive workmanship. So we use the damask silks of Lorsica, the Florentine leather, the blown glass of Altare, the Filigrana of Campo Ligure... Every Italian excellence captures our attention.
